SPRINGBOK backpack

SPRINGBOK backpack

2015

I made this backpack from a springbok skin bought in Botswana, where this antelope is hunted for its meat and its skin is traditionally used as wedding blankets. I’ve folded the skin to form the bag’s main compartment, enhancing the natural symmetry of the hide’s pattern and its characteristic fur puff. Orange leather straps contrast this nature-made design.

H.42, L.32, l.8 cm. Springbok fur, cow leather, metal furniture.
